If there's snow, pack it into plastic bags and stuff as much as possible into the coolers. Also bury stuff outside in the snow. Don't assume the power will come back soon - if you do that, as I did, it's too late.
Thank God I have natural gas in this house and so had a functional water heater and a working outdoor grill with side burner. Being able to take a hot shower was good for the soul.
Prayer candles from the grocery are a wonderful thing. Battery-operated LED lanterns that you get as a coincidental birthday gift are even better.
A battery operated radio and extra batteries are ESSENTIAL. I would have gone crazy without mine.
CLIF bars cease to be appetizing after about the fifth one.
Too much tea makes even a tea lover eschew it after a while.
Oil lamps and lamp oil are good things.
Having tree limbs hanging over one's bedroom can be scary.
Trusting that something will happen when you flick a switch takes a while to come back.AdamHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11225359201471871357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8418939.post-8646225636929221162011-11-12T09:59:15.510-05:002011-11-12T09:59:15.510-05:00Each of us does what we can based on what we have ...Each of us does what we can based on what we have to offer.
